Just about everybody you see is talking about the rain or no rain and how badly it is needed. Well we finally got several little showers and two nice rains during the weekend which we are very thankful for. ƒRuth Ann Dillard of McCaysville, mother of my daughter-in-law, Terri Branham, died Monday night, August 18, after a long illness. Funeral services were held at Finch-Cochran Funeral Home in Blue Ridge on Thursday. Interment was in Union Baptist Cemetery. Mae Dell Huff and I went with Ernestine Hoffmann of North Augusta to attend Mrs. Dillard's funeral. After services we joined Edward, Terri, and her family and friends and went to their home church, Williamstown United Methodist Church, for a time of fellowship and a delicious meal prepared by friends from several churches in the area. ƒSue Davis visited Janet and Scott Blaine Thursday evening. On Friday they were visited by his brother Mike and his wife Cindy and little Clyde of Buford. ƒJanet and Scott Blaine spent the weekend with his mother, Mary Blaine. Sunday they attended services with her at Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church in Suches. They also spent some time shopping in Dahlonega. ƒMr. and Mrs. Dennis Bradford of Thomson visited his mother, Mrs. Juanita Bradford, Sunday afternoon. ƒJames and I were invited to join the seniors at Tignall Baptist Church Tuesday for lunch and entertainment by Gwinn Ware of Evans who played the piano. We enjoyed his music of old hymns and popular songs from way back, before the delicious salad lunch. Thanks to Pat Bobo for a wonderful time. ƒSue Davis spent Saturday with her daughter, Faye Scoggins, and her family in Augusta. On Sunday after services at Clifford's Grove Baptist Church she had lunch with Lois and Coryer Poss. ƒWhitney Branham and several other young people were baptized at Tignall Baptist Church Sunday. It was a nice service. Rev. Dale Fincher preached a good message on baptism before he baptized them. Members of our family who attended with her parents and brother Charlie were Philip and Mae Dell Huff of Athens; Ann Caldwell of Barnwell, S.C.; and James and me. Then we all enjoyed lunch at the Home Cafe. ƒPhilip and Mae Dell Huff visited our Aunt Louise Phelps at the new High Shoals Enrichment Center. She is recovering nicely from her fall and much therapy, and she is in very good spirits. ƒDon't forget our fifth Sunday covered dish meal at Clifford's Grove Baptist Church this Sunday, August 31. ƒHappy birthday to my "hubby," James Sherrer, who is 85 years old today, August 28. ƒAspire to inspire before you expire.
