Funeral services for Melvin Thomas, 50, of Crawfordville were held Saturday, August 23, 2008, at New Salem Baptist Church with Rev. R.L. Reynolds officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery. He died Tuesday, August 19, in Augusta.

Mr. Thomas was a native of Taliaferro County and was the son of Rev. Albert Thomas and the late Ora Lee Thomas. He was employed at Pliant Corporation, Washington, for many years.

Survivors include his children, Felicia S. Thomas and Melvin M. Thomas of Union Point; a grandchild, Felicity S. Thomas of Union Point; five brothers, Albert Thomas Jr., Lucious Thomas, Robert Lee Thomas, Vinson Thomas, all of Crawfordville, and Calvin Thomas of Washington; four sisters, Shirley Thomas of Buffalo, N.Y., Norma Bowden, Atlanta, Bernice Thomas, Augusta, and Lelia Heath, Union Point.

Watts Funeral Home of Union Point was in charge of arrangements. Announcement is by Davenport McLendon Mortuary Inc., Washington.
