State rep. reports to Kiwanis

For the 2009 budget of $21 billion, Channell reported that current receipts are down 6.5 percent from last year and 7.0 percent for August alone. This means that the budget is currently 12-14% behind. Channell pointed to the precipitous downturn in the economy at both the state and national level as the problem. Wayne Madden was the program host for the day.
