A local merchant has taken a step outside the box by holding a forum for local candidates next Friday night, just prior to showing the first U.S. presidential debate on bigscreen television.

Richard and Dana Kibby, owners of Retro Cinema and Books, say they will host the forum Friday, September 26, at 7 p.m. at their Spring Street store, with all local candidates for office invited.

"This forum will allow each local candidate to present a brief highlight of their qualifications and their purpose for seeking office," Dana said. "Questions from the public will further define the candidates' position on relevant issues."

Immediately following the local candidates' forum, Retro Cinema will be televising the first U.S. Presidential Debate at 9 p.m. The public is invited to both the forum and the debate, and admission is free.
