Revival services will be held at Sardis Baptist Church Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday, October 5, 6, and 7. The Sunday morning service will be at 11 a.m. and the evening services will be at 7 p.m. Rev. Donnie Berry, pastor of Mallorysville Baptist Church in Tignall, will be guest speaker. There will be special music each evening. Rev. Berry's wife Kris, Tommy Wells, the choir of Sardis and the Sardis Ladies Ensemble will sing at the revival. Rev. Jim Newsome and members of Sardis cordially invite you to come and join with us at these special services. ƒThe choir at Sardis Baptist Church, under the direction of Joyce Fry with Pam Hall as pianist sounded wonderful Sunday morning as they sang along with the congregation. Joyce had them sing the second verse of "In the Garden" without the congregation's help and they did a beautiful job. Prayer requests were made for the sick, bereaved, the hurricane victims, the plane crash and train wreck victims and their families. Many praises were given. Rev. Jim Newsome then called for the children who enthusiastically went up to the altar for their little message and prayer. After this they went to children's church in the annex with Courtney Gunter. The sermon by the pastor was "My way or the high way" and came from Thessalonians 2:13. During the invitational hymn, two came forward to join the church for baptism. They were Leslie Cressman and Tiffany Lamar. Sunday evening at Sardis was family night with a nice meal and mission meetings. ƒWe were glad Thomas Fleming was able to be back at church at Sardis Sunday morning. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Her family has our heartfelt sympathy.
