Ebenezer Baptist Church had a good service Sunday. We had 61 for Sunday School with about 20 more for preaching. Dr. Dupree had the children's story, "Follow the Leader," after which they went to children's church. The adult message was "What Will It Take to Save our World?" Mr. and Mrs. G.T. Hall placed a lovely green plant in the sanctuary. ƒHappy birthday to all who are celebrating birthdays this week. On September 17, our daughter Shannon N. "He" got away. ƒSarah Huff, Linda Standard, and Alex Dunaway visited us one day last week. ƒMost of you know that my father passed away last Friday, September 5. He had been ill several years, but the doctors were amazed at how good he had done throughout the past year. He was in and out of the doctors' offices frequently and then on to the hospital for blood transfusions. He had been in the hospital 10 days due to a fall and we thought he was coming home. The Lord had other plans for him though, and we did not get to bring him home. Instead, he went to his heavenly home. We miss him so very much, but he is at peace and no longer suffering. He was a wonderful "Poppa" (as we all called him), a great person, and a good friend to many. Yes, he is missed so much and our hearts are sad. We are so blessed to have had him so many years. ƒG.B. and I would like to thank all our friends, our church family, and our neighbors for their love, prayers, food, flowers and monetary gifts during our loss.
