We had good services at Clifford's Grove Baptist Church Sunday. Rev. Martin preached a good message on faith from Luke 7:1-10. After the hymn of invitation Rev. Martin asked twoyear old Samuel Burt, who had been taught by his family, to repeat the blessing he says before meals every day. He did well, and we all were impressed and blessed by it. ƒSara Wheatley of Metasville called to tell me that her brother, Roy Hopkins, of San Diego, California, came Wednesday, September 3, to spend a week with her. They enjoyed visiting relatives and having others come to visit them. One day they took their annual "spin" around Lundburg. Roy likes to do that and stop by the cemetery where their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Claude Hopkins, are buried. ƒVisiting Scott and Janet Blaine during the weekend were his brother, Clayton, and his wife Nancy of Dahlonega, and their cousins, Randy and Michelle Stoudemire, and daughter Kirkland. Sue Davis had supper with them Sunday night. ƒAfter attending prayer meeting at Clifford's Grove Baptist Church Wednesday evening, Lois and Coryer Poss visited Sue Davis. ƒ James and Samille Sherrer were among the many friends who attended the funeral of Kathryn Padgett at Phillips Mill Baptist Church Sunday afternoon. Rev. Robert Rayner officiated and Rev. Steve Rayner sang two beautiful songs. After the service, refreshments were served and a time of fellowship was held in the fellowship hall. ƒTad and Kris Hopkins and baby Libby of Eatonton came to see Grandmother Iris Dyson Friday afternoon. John Hopkins of Athens visited her Saturday afternoon. ƒLittle Madison Kay of Sharon spent Wednesday night with Mr. and Mrs. Ricky McCarty. ƒMrs. Juanita Bradford was honored on her 85th birthday Sunday with a surprise family party planned by her daughter, Trudy Sutherland, and held at the home of Terry and Mary Lou Bradford in Washington. Other family members present were John Sutherland and Brad, Laurie Bradford, Maddie and Zane of Dublin, Dennis and Joyce Bradford and their daughter, Tonia Gowen, and her family of Thomson. ƒAt the Raytown Baptist Church Sunday, new deacons were nominated and elected. Then they were ordained by Rev. Wade Palmer. They are Dr. Les Sales, Larry Moore, and Marvin Moore New members, Michael Moore and James Sherrer, who are already deacons, became active deacons in this church. ƒ Revival services will begin at the Raytown Baptist Church at 11 a.m. Sunday, September 21, with Rev. Pierce Ashmore as guest speaker. Services each evening Sunday through Wednesday will start at 7:30 p.m. A covered dish meal will be served in the fellowship hall following services Sunday morning, and each evening a light supper will begin at 6 p.m. for everyone who would like to eat before attending revival services. Rev. Wade Palmer extends a welcome to everyone to join them in an "old time revival" experience. ƒWe finally got some good rain during the week. Once there was a slow rain nearly all night and then a hard rain came the next night for which we are all so grateful, and we need more. you could help make this the best festival ever. Homebaked cakes are needed for the cake walk. Let Gloria Ware or Carolyn Gammon know if you can bake a cake. Put Saturday, November 1, on your calendar and plan to have fun at the "I'd Rather Be In Tignall" Fall Festival.
