Funeral services for Kathryn Lynn Hilborn Padgett, 64, of Redwood Lane, Wilkes County, were held Sunday, September 14, 2008, at Phillips Mill Baptist Church, Washington, with Rev. Robert Rayner officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. She died Thursday, September 11, at Athens Regional Medical Center.

Mrs. Padgett was a native of Springfield, Ohio, and had lived in Wilkes County for 31 years. She was the daughter of the late Charles Hilborn and Frances Van Ronk Hilborn. She was a homemaker and a member of the Phillips Mill Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Sherman Linden "Skip" Padgett; two sons, Sherman W. Padgett, North Charleston, S.C., and Charles D. Padgett, Montgomery City, Missouri; two daughters, Cassandra L. Padgett, Rayle, and Dawn E. Davidson, Columbia, Missouri; brother, Howard Hilborn, Tampa, Florida; 12 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Hopkins Funereal Home of Washington was in charge of arrangements.
