Addison Renee Baston, daughter of Jim and Heather Baston, celebrated her first birthday on Tuesday, September 9.

Family and friends gathered at the Baston home on the Danburg Road several days before on Saturday, September 6, at one o'clock for a backyard cookout honoring Addison.

Hamburgers and hot dogs were grilled by Addison's father, grandfather, uncle and friends, Jay Durham and Casey Jackson. Following a special blessing written and recited by her uncle, Greg Clay of Macon, chips and all the trimmings were served with the meal. Addison enjoyed her own little birthday cake while her guests enjoyed a pink, purple, and lime green cake and ice cream.

A "Fun to be One" theme was carried out in the party decorations and birthday cake. The buffet tables were decorated in hot pink, light pink, and lime green cloths. Lime green cloths highlighted guest tables set under the shade of the carport and back yard. Each table held balloons of the same assortment tied to lime green and pink miniature sand pails and highlighted by pink stuffed animals of every kind given to Addison by family and friends since her birth.

Children in attendance for the party received green or pink treat bags filled with bubbles, bouncy balls, toy snakes/frogs or jewelry, along with ring pops, Tootsie Rolls and other assorted candies.

Out-of-town guests celebrating with Addison and her parents were her grandmother, Sharon Burdette of North Augusta, S.C.; uncle, aunt and cousins, Greg and MeLisa Clay, Ashley and Abby, of Macon; greataunt, Jackie Starks, and cousins, Bryan and Jenny Starks, Catherine, Maddie and Ella, all of Simpsonville, S.C.; special friends, Tyler and Trenton Long and Michelle Henderson, also Larissa and Natalie Brittingham and Dalton Hicks, all of Augusta; Wanda Dingler of Union Point; and Linda Aycock of Tignall.

Washington guests included her grandparents, James and June Baston; Jamie Anderson and Natalie, Ashley Andrews and Ashton, Ashley Barnett, Ashley Cox and Aubrey, Deanne Crook and Miranda, Jay and Lee Durham, Jack and Caroline, Robbie and Jessica Eubank, Porter and Carson, Newton and Pam Gunter, Casey and Jennifer Jackson, Madeline and Ella, Amy Johnston, Trey and Carter, Will and Amy Long, Nicholas and Bobby, Chad and Felicia Thornton and Mason, and Tommy and Debbie Wells.

Following her birthday party, Addison and immediate family members were treated to a true feast at the home of her grandparents, James and June Baston, later that evening. Her "Mama June" prepared the Baston family meal of country fried steak, homemade gravy, rice, mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese casserole, green beans, sliced tomatoes, pear salad and rolls. To everyone's surprise, another birthday cake was served honoring the joint birthdays of James Baston, MeLisa Clay, Jim and Addison Baston, whose birthdays fall close together during the months of August and September. Ice cream was also served with the cake. Enjoying the festivities with the Baston family was Addison's grandmother, Sharon Burdette.

On Tuesday, September 9, Addison celebrated her "actual" birthday at home with her parents and grandparents, James and June Baston. Jim and Heather Baston prepared a small meal for the occasion and presented Addison with gifts.
