Betty Edwards Thornton was honored on her 80th birthday at a family luncheon and celebration at the home of her grandchildren, Kelli and Michael Tillman, in Washington on her birthday, September 7.

The family gathered on the patio and in the basement where they grilled and dined. A delicious barbecue chicken lunch was enjoyed with an array of delicious side dishes. Homemade ice cream and individual parfaits were served for dessert.

The afternoon was enjoyed as the family enjoyed much reminiscing and laughter.

Present with Mrs. Edwards were all of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Ellis and Pat Thornton, and Michael, Kelli and Coley Tillman of Washington; Charlie and Beth Thornton Brown of Martinez; Chris, Jan, Brooks, Walker and Ella Thornton of Commerce; Greg and Jessi Thornton and Dylan Oakes of Lawrenceville, Jim and Jennifer Pefferly of Woodstock and Randall Brown of Atlanta. Also present was one of Mrs. Thornton's nieces, Jean Rollins, who resides nearby in Athens.
