Last weekend the Washington- Wilkes Tigers played the Social Circle Redskins in the first of six consecutive away games. The Tigers triumphed over the Redskins 18-7 after leading 18-0 at halftime. Although Washington-Wilkes won the game, there was an apparent lack of the level of enthusiasm shown in the game versus Thomson.

The game started with a coin toss won by the Tigers, who deferred to the second half. Brandon Turner kicked the ball off for Washington after Social Circle elected to receive. The Redskins returned the ball out to their own 37-yard line. On their first play from scrimmage, the Social Circle offense gained the first first-down of the game on a 13-yard pass to the 50. The rest of the drive stalled, however, after a few short runs ending with the Redskins turning the ball over on downs.

The Tiger offense started off its first drive from the 48-yard line. On second down, after two penalties against the Tigers and a nine-yard run by Eric Scott, Scott broke a long run down to the Social fiveyard line. The Tigers were unable to score, and their first drive ended with W-W turning the ball over on downs.

THE TIGER DEFENSE HELD THE REDSKINS SCORELESS UNTIL THE FINAL QUARTER Social Circle got only 11 yard rushing against the strong W-W team. THE TIGER DEFENSE HELD THE REDSKINS SCORELESS UNTIL THE FINAL QUARTER Social Circle got only 11 yard rushing against the strong W-W team. The Redskins took over with their backs against their own end zone and the ball on the seven-yard line. On third down a Redskin pass was batted down by senior Ty McGill, forcing the Redskins to punt out of their own end zone.

The Tigers started out their second drive on the Social 37-yard line after the Redskins punted the ball out of bounds. After three unsuccessful attempts and facing a fourth-andseven, the Tigers ran a fake punt, with quarterback Teverrius Jones passing the ball to Deandre Stewart who took it 40 yards to score the first points of the game. Sophomore kicker Tom Saggus missed the extrapoint leaving the score at 6-0.

The Tigers' kickoff to the Redskins after the touchdown was returned out to the 34-yard line, after which Washington-Wilkes was hit with a sideline warning. On thirdand long the Social Circle quarterback was forced to scramble out of the pocket and throw a pass that was tipped up by a Redskin receiver and then intercepted by Stewart who returned it to the Social seven-yard line.

On the first play of the drive Jones kept the ball for himself and ran the ball into the end zone for the second Tiger touchdown. The Washington kicker missed the extra point, giving the Tigers a lead of 12-0.

The Redskins returned the ball out to their 29-yard line. After a short loss and then a short pass gain by Social Circle, the Tigers were called for an unsportsmanlike penalty giving the Redskins a first down. On fourth down, the Washington defense then stopped the Social offense a foot short of a first down.

Scott broke free a 25 yard run on the first play of the Tiger possession to put W-W at the Social 31-yard line. Two plays later, Scott gained the Tigers another first down penetrating deep into Redskin territory. A sack on first down put the Washington offense too far out to convert the first down with the three remaining plays, giving Social Circle the ball on its own 11-yard line.

On the Redskins second play, the quarterback threw the ball up under pressure to be intercepted by Ty McGill who returned the ball to the 12-yard line. Three plays later, the Tiger offense converted their second fourth down of the game for a touchdown, with Jones hooking up again with Stewart. The two-point conversion attempt by Washington failed.

The Social offense ran three plays and then punted to the Tigers after coming up short of a first down. Washington-Wilkes had the time to run one play and then take a knee before the rest of the time in the half ran out. The teams went in for the half with the score 18-0.

The Redskins kicked off to the Tigers to start off the second half. On third down, Scott broke free yet another long run only to be caught on the Social 20-yard line. After another first down gained by Scott and a couple of short runs, the Redskins forced a turnover giving them the ball deep in their own territory.

After alternating three-and-outs by both Washington and Social, the Redskin offense converted a first down. Three plays later Senior Drew Wilson sacked the quarterback for a loss of 11 yards, forcing the Redskins to punt.

The Tiger offense converted a first down after three plays, after which Deon Jackson got loose on backto back runs to get the Washington offense down to the Social sevenyard line. The Tigers were unable to do anything with the field position however and turned the ball over on downs to the Redskins. Social Circle was forced to punt after just three plays, and after the Washington offense turned the ball over on downs, the Redskins took the ball over on their own 37-yard line. They got nowhere on first and second down, but completed a 59-yard touchdown pass on third down that gave them their only touchdown of the game. The Social kicker knocked through the extra point making the score 18- 7.

The Washington-Wilkes "hands" team was able to keep the Redskin kicking team from recovering the onside kick. In three downs the Tigers had gained five yards, leaving five yards to go on fourth down, with 17 seconds left in the game. Instead of punting, Washington pulled a fake punt that quarterback Jones ran down to the Social 17-yard line. The rest of the time ran out without the Tigers having to run another play, ending the game at 18-7.

The Washington-Wilkes defense held the Redskin offense to only 115 total yards, led by leading tacklers McGill with five tackles, two assists, and an interception; and Anthony Smith with five tackles and one assist. The Tiger offense put up 387 total yards led by Eric Scott with 211 rushing yards on 18 carries and Teverrius Jones with 100 all-purpose yards and three total touchdowns.

Next Friday the Tigers square off against the Blessed Trinity Titans. The Titans are currently ranked number eight in class AA and are averaging 39 points per game. Offensively the Titans run a West Coast offense and will throw the ball 25- 30 times. They are led by TB Scott Burkhalter and WR Jake Scole, who caught 15 passes in the Titans last game. Defensively Blessed Trinity operates out of a 4-4 look led by 6-5, 310 lb. tackle Matt Crisafi. Kickoff is at 7:30 at Blessed Trinity School located in Roswell off Ga. Hwy. 400.
