Aspinwall accepts call as pastor after Baptists' three-year search
      Rev. Klay A. Aspinwall has accepted the position of pastor for the Washington First Baptist Church and thereby puts an end to the search that lasted almost three years. Aspinwall preached a "trial" sermon on Sunday morning, September 28, after which the church congregation voted overwhelmingly to extend the call for him to join the staff as pastor.

Mt. Zion United Methodist Church to hold revival services Oct. 5-8
      Mt. Zion United Methodist Church will be having its revival October 5-8 at 7 p.m. each evening. There will be special music each night and a meal on Sunday and Wednesday at 6 p.m. Rev. Pope's Chapel UMC sets homecoming Sunday, October 5
      Historic Pope's Chapel United Methodist Church, located near Broad River in the northern part of Wilkes County, will be having its 52nd annual homecoming day at the church on Sunday, October 5. The worship service will begin at 11:00 a.m. and will be followed by lunch under the big oak trees. Rev. Brian George of Wilkes County will be the guest speaker for the occasion.
