'Elvis' to headline Celebrity Waiters Dinner tonight

The Celebrity Waiters Dinner sponsored by the Wills Memorial Hospital Auxiliary to benefit the hospital will be held Thursday evening, October 2, at 7 p.m. The event will be held at the Washington- Wilkes Comprehensive High School cafeteria.

Entertainment will be by Elvis impersonator Chris Shupe of Athens. Many people will remember Shupe's impersonation at the Fitzpatrick Hotel several years ago. He has donated his time and talent for the Thursday performance.

The menu for the evening will include some of Elvis' favorite foods, especially Southern friend chicken and peach cobbler.

Dr. Stan Coe, a member of the Wills Memorial Hospital staff, will serve as emcee for the evening which includes dinner, door prizes and entertainment. Dr. Coe will also use his own musical talents as background for the meal.

Thirty celebrity waiters are awaiting the chance to serve the meal. They will be collecting monetary tips for each service they provide. Tips are collected and counted at the end of the evening activities with a friendly but competitive contest to see which waiter will collect the most tips.

Tickets are $20 each. There will be a limited number of tickets available at the door.

All proceeds for the evening's activities will benefit Wills Memorial Hospital.
