Learning in Retirement has announced fall courses which will be available to members and other interested persons.

"Introduction to Power Point" is a two-session course to be led by Polly Fievet. It covers basic computer techniques for preparation of photographs and related materials for presentation to small or large groups using digital technology.

The course is scheduled for September 29 and October 16, 2 p.m., at the Adult Learning Center.

This is the first of three courses offered by the Washington Chapter, Learning in Retirement, in the fall series.

Carolyn Reynolds will be leading the first of four sessions by three instructors. Her subject is "Self and Society," and deals with self-understanding as determined by the Myers-Briggs personality test. Rational or intuitive, introvert or extrovert types, and others, can be revealed with a self-testing routine.

Improving on our food, health and collective land use are topics scheduled by Rae Sikora and J.C. Corcoran of Athens. "My Life Is My Message -- Human Billboards" will be presented during a third session; and "Global Home Wrecker -- Influencing Global Warming"" is the final session. Instructors are Sikora and Corcoran, respectively.

The series is planned for October 13, 21, and 27, at 2 p.m. in the Parish House.

"Greece and the Greek Contribution to Western Civilization is scheduled for November 3, 19, and 27, at 2 p.m. in the Mary Willis Library. Following a brief review of the beginnings of agriculture, bartering, writing, government, and religion in what is now Iraq and Egypt, the contributions of the Greeks, especially in religion and philosophy, are revealed in authoritative, vivid, and brilliant detail.

Professor Thomas F. Noble of Notre Dame will cover these topics in a DVD presentation.

"Guests are welcome to attend these courses, and refreshments are provided," says Albert Long, chapter president. Anyone interested in enrollment or more information should call Joe Harris at 706-678- 2818.
