Wilkinson retires after 27 years at Atlanta Fire Dept.
WILKINSON Gregg Wilkinson, a 1973 graduate of Washington-Wilkes High School, has announced his retirement from the Atlanta Fire Rescue Department after 27 years.
Wilkinson has established himself as one of Atlanta's bravest by being proficient as a fire apparatus operator, hazard material technician, and pump engine driver. He was assigned to fire station 19, located in the Virginia-Highland area of Atlanta and received numerous station awards.
Upon retirement, Wilkinson plans to continue to sell real estate and travel around the country to watch his son Gerris play professional football with the New York Giants. He would also like to move back to Washington at some point to be near family and friends, get involved in community affairs, and maybe someday run for the office of Mayor of Washington.
Wilkinson is the son of Annie Ruth "Pie" Wilkinson and the Late Howard Wilkinson of Washington.
