Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Dunnaway and Mr. and Mrs. Wade Dunnaway spent Tuesday through Sunday at Myrtle Beach, S.C. ƒStephanie Haynes, Chip and Skyla, spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Richard Phillips. ƒI visited my mother, Blanche Wallace, in Lincoln County several times last week. On Saturday I visited Mr. and Mrs. Bennie Hudson and Linda Albea. I also visited patients in Wills Memorial Hospital. ƒAlex Dunaway visited Linda Battle Sunday. ƒMt. Zion United Methodist Church will be having revival services starting Sunday, October 5, and continuing through October 8. Rev. Thomas Moon, the new pastor of Bethany and Pine Grove United Methodist Churches of Lincolnton, will be the speaker. Supper will be served on Sunday and Wednesday evenings. ƒTrudy Ingram carried her mother, Mrs. Lucille Ingram, along with Sarah Huff, Linda Standard, and Margaret Montiguy to the funeral of their cousin, Linda Ruth Turpin in Murphy, N.C., last week. ƒSincere love and sympathy to all who recently lost loved ones. ƒAubrye and Michael Mathe visited Cassie Goldman, Bryson Taylor, and Sarah Huff last week. ƒJack Newsome was honored on his 70th birthday at his home Sunday by family. His actual birthday was Saturday, September 27. Those in attendance were his sisters, Jean N. Casey of Cedartown, and Ramona N. King and husband Jerry of Fletcher, N.C.; Brian and Lisa Miester of Harlem, Jack and Mary Lois Newsome and sons of Washington; G.B. and Sherry Newsome of Aonia; Joan Casey Mitchell of Cedartown, Bobby and Julie West, Mrs. Jenelle Newsome, Margaret Rae Evans, Bobby West Jr. and family. ƒWe had a good church service Sunday at Ebenezer Baptist Church. We had baptism for Donna Charping, Christopher Charping, Leah Stevens, and Scott Stevens. Dr. Dupree spoke on the ordinance of baptism. This included New Testament baptism, the symbol of death, burial, and resurrection, the symbol of the Christian life, salt, the symbol of the Christian witness, light and an invitation to believers baptism. Dr. Dupree spoke on the ordinance of the Lord's Supper from the New Testament, the silent confession, an invitation to His table, the blessing breaking, sharing and partaking of the bread, the blessing, breaking, sharing, and partaking of the cup, the declaration if His return, and an invitation to the Lord and His church. Dr. Dupree was honored Sunday evening with a surprise birthday party in the fellowship hall of the church. The supper consisted of spaghetti, salad, bread and drinks. The special events committee had a beautiful cake, especially made for him. He received two special gifts from the church plus cards and other gifts. His birthday was Monday, September 29. ƒMrs. James Casey and Mrs. Joan Mitchell of Cedartown spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Jack Newsome and Lisa and Brian Miester in Harlem. ƒHappy birthday to Jack Newsome, Claire Nelson, Lynn Gay, Dr. Dupree, Bobby Myers, Donna Charping, Toni Callaway, and Jack Strother. ƒMrs. Jenelle Newsome was a special guest at the birthday party honoring her nephew, Jack Newsome, Sunday. ƒOur prayer concerns include Dot Shank, Lois South, Claire Nelson, Linda Albea, Ethel Harris, Ed Burdette, Jack and Peggy Saggus, Lucy McCorkle, Talmadge and Kathleen Reed, Elizabeth and Sanders Dallis, Blanche Wallace, Jenelle Newsome, Wylie Dallis, Warren and Lois Nunn, Priscilla and Morrison Maxwell, Willie Ruth Freeman, Jimmie Lou Benton, Charlene Strickland, Gary Rogers, Barry Bailey, Ruth Bell, Ronnie Callaway, Billy Glen, Patricia Bailey, Jerry Stover, William Johnson, George Casey, Lisa Franklin, Lila Edwards, Gail Brown, Joyce Bowen, Alan Kemp, Cynthia Hardy, Willie Frank Hopkins, Jerry Robinson, Bob Kirkland, Joann Webb, Grace Dunaway, Rose Newby, Susan Hargrove, Frances Moon, Edward and Velma Crook, Bonnie and J.W.
