Keeping the torch alive

On the day of Pentecost, God lighted the torch of the baptism of the Holy Ghost with fire and it still burns to this day.

That fire has not been quenched though doused with unbelief and with skepticism. That fire has been fought by many but it has been accepted and received by many. You see, fire is good if controlled. Amen!

You can warm by it, cook with it, and see by it. There's so much you can do with good fire. But when it gets away from you, there's trouble. They used to try and put out natural fires. Now, they just try and control them. Fire can also purify and sometimes God is just doing some purification, and we get too close, so we get burned.

Way, way back in history, long before the match was invented, folks had a hard time getting a fire started and keeping it going. Even with a match and some fuel it can still be difficult to get a fire going and once you do, then you've got to watch it and poke it, and keep plenty of wood on it.

I said all that to say this: "Once we receive the baptism of the Holy

Ghost with fire then we have got to keep that flame alive. The torch that God lighted on the day of Pentecost still burns in the hearts of men and women. It's a good fire. It's one that purifies;

one that does you good. It warms up the soul and gives spiritual light. Keep it burning. Stay close to God. Seek Him daily in prayer. Stoke that fire that burns within you; and beware of wild fire. Amen.

They say that the same fire is still burning and has been handed down for hundreds of years from ancient Greece; the torch of the Olympic games. They claim that when the Olympics came to America and was hosted in Atlanta that they brought that flame over on an airplane -- the eternal flame I guess you would call it. Well, there's a flame -- a torch -- that I know beyond a shadow of doubt that is eternal and that one, my friend, is the one that God ignited on the Day of Pentecost when the 120 were in the upper room watching and waiting to receive this baptism with fire, and they did.

So, do you think that God then let the torch blow out or burn out. No! Ten thousands time no. If man can keep the Olympic torch burning, then don't you know that a Mighty God would keep His spiritual fire burning! Yes! Ten thousands times yes.

The reason so many don't have it is because they are not doing what the 120 did. Wanting it! Yes, you must want it. Don't listen to those who say that you don't need it. It's a gift from God; a promise from God; and no, you don't get it by just walking down and shaking the preacher's hand. Let me tell you that this fire comes by seeking after it. Then you must keep that flame burning in your soul. Keep the torch alive. This Holy Ghost fire still burns. Can you say amen.
