Bill Lee named 2008 'Kiwanian of the Year' at annual banquet; new officers installed
Bill Lee, a 30+ year member, receives the Kiwanian of the Year award from Club President Bes Moore. Bill Lee was named "Kiwanian of the Year" for his continued dedication and faithfulness to the service activities of the Washington Kiwanis Club at the club's annual banquet held last Thursday, September 25. Lee has been a member of the club for more than 30 years, having joined in 1977, and has served in various capacities including club secretary for a number of years.
"Bill is always there and it is members like him that make Kiwanis special," Club President Bes Moore said in presenting the award.
New officers of the club for the 2008-2009 year were installed and new directors were announced as well. Dr. Erick Pagan provided the entertainment portion of the program during which he conducted a mock "Dancing with the Stars" competition. He also performed some of his own original songs. The banquet was built on a Mexican Fiesta theme and featured Mexican cuisine and decorations.
Newly elected Georgia District Governor Carlton Norris addressed his home club and praised individual members for their work and creativity on the many projects and programs developed by the club during its 88-year history.

Governor Tommy Phelps installed new officers for the club including Chris Hughes, president; Sherry Hudson, vice president; Debra Guin, secretary; Lee Benner, treasurer; and Bes Moore, immediate past president. New directors for the club are Jim Finch, Ed Geddings, Denni Moss, and Al Zima.
Outgoing directors recognized for their years of service were Bill Boyd, Jim Bundy, Bill Lee, and Bill Smith.
