SOUTHERN FRIED FOOTBALL
Five weeks into the season, it's time to rate the nation's BCS conferences.
1. Southeastern Conference - The consensus pick among America's college football "experts" is the SEC. Old Claude agrees. From top to bottom this league is the best, especially at the top.
2. Big Twelve Conference - The new number one team in the nation this week is Oklahoma, but the big Twelve also has Missouri, Oklahoma State, and Texas.
3. Atlantic Coast Conference - Many sportswriters maligned the ACC after the string of upsets its teams suffered the first two weeks of the season. The boys have rebounded nicely since then posting wins over strong clubs from the SEC, Big 12 and Big East.
4. Big Ten Conference - At this point in the season the big Ten looks like the "Big One" - Penn State.
5. Big East Conference - South Florida is a developing power, but don't overlook Connecticut and resurgent West Virginia.
6. PAC Ten - If Southern Cal were not in this league, it would look like a Division 1- AA conference.
Having stuck my neck way out on conference ratings, it's time to take a look at this week's match ups.
Florida 42 - Arkansas 3
Ole Miss 21 - South Carolina 7
