Grammy-nominated recording artist Terri Gibbs will headline the annual Rayle Ramble Fall Festival on October 25, and with just two weeks to go, this year's Ramble will have the biggest kids' section ever, said organizer Jason Echols.

"We'll have a petting zoo, a bounce house, a slide, a train ride, an obstacle course - more things than ever for kids this year."

The Ramble will be held at the Rayle City Hall, which is located on Highway 78, the Athens Highway, between Lexington and Washington.

"The Ramble will kick off at 10 a.m. and will run all day. Country star Terri Gibbs will be returning this year to perform, along with The Pearly Gates from Nashville," Echols said, "and we've got lots more local music, too, from hip-hop to country."

The Rayle volunteer fire department will be preparing its famous barbecue chicken plates, hamburgers and hotdogs. Barbecue tickets will be available for sale and may be reserved by calling Echols at 706-274-3350. "We're only making enough for 250, so folks need to get their reservations in early."

There are also a record number of vendors confirmed, selling food, crafts, clothing, and jewelry, he said.

The famous cooks of Rayle will offer their specialties at the Country Store. "There will be baked goods, homemade canned goods and more," Echols said. "You won't want to miss that!"

The ever popular marathon Bingo game will get underway at 1 p.m. with prizes provided by Wilkes County merchants.
