Colin Steed Stewart

Funeral services for Colin Steed Stewart, 87, of Crawfordville were held Wednesday, October 8, 2008, at the Crawfordville Baptist Church with Rev. John Autry and Rev. Jack Key officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery. He died Monday, October 6.

Mr. Stewart was a native of Taliaferro County and was the son of the late Geneva Bristol Stewart and the late Addie Mae McKinley Stewart. He was a graduate of the University of Georgia where he received his B.S. in Agricultural and Animal Husbandry. At the university he served as president of the Agricultural Club, the Agriculture Council, AGHON and the Saddle and Sirloin Club; and vice-president and student council member. He was a member of several organizations including the Veterans Organization Council, 4-H Club, Dairy Science Club, American Legion, Gridiron Club, and GOP. He worked with the Soil Conservation Service and construction service and served in the U.S. Army Air Force. He retired from Pennington Grain and Seed. He was an active member of the Crawfordville Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.

Survivors include his wife, Sybil Kenny Stewart of Crawfordville; children, Carol Bird (Kitch) of Forsyth; Charles Stewart (Paula), Crawfordville; Coleen Gardner (Joe), Alpharetta; and Chip Stewart (Lori), Milledgeville; nine grandchildren, Beth Sneed, Saralyn Fulcher, Leila Holbrook, Caroline Stewart, Kathleen Stewart, Joseph Gardner, Benjamin Gardner, Chris Stewart, and Catie Stewart; and four great-grandchildren.
