The American Cancer Society and McDuffie Regional Medical Center, Thomson, will be offering "Look Good . . . Feel Better" sessions, a free, hands-on group workshop dedicated to helping female cancer patients cope with and combat the appearance-related side effects of chemotherapy and radiation treatment.

The sessions will be offered quarterly in McDuffie County, and are available for residents of Wilkes, Warren, McDuffie, and Lincoln counties. Interested persons may contact Danielle Truan at 706-731- 9900 for more information.

Volunteer cosmetologists lead the program that includes a 12-step skin care and makeup program as well as demonstrations on hair/wig techniques to help restore a positive self-image. Each participant will receive a free kit of full-size namebrand cosmetics for use during and after the workshop.

"We offer many programs and services to cancer patients and their families, but this program is special to us because it helps women restore their sense of inner and outer beauty," said Truan, community manager for the American Cancer Society. "It is our hope that we can help as many women as possible feel better about themselves while undergoing treatment for cancer."

The American Cancer Society is the nationwide communitybased voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by preventing cancer, saving lives and diminishing suffering from cancer through research, education, advocacy and service.
