Don't forget the fall festival at Clifford's Grove Baptist Church Saturday evening, October 25, beginning at 5 p.m. Bring your favorite soup or salad. There will be games and prizes and a cake walk. There will be door prizes and a hayride if weather permits. So come join us and have lots of fun. ƒWillard and Sue Lance joined Elizabeth Barber and Chris Conway Saturday and attended the UGA and Vanderbilt homecoming game. They especially enjoyed the halftime program which featured the band playing the march composed by Bob Haughey's grandfather, R.E. Haughey, about 100 years ago. ƒSympathy is extended to the family of Willie Frank Hopkins who died last Sunday. He was born in Lundberg but his family moved to Washington when he was a child. James and I attended his graveside service Wednesday morning and also were invited to join the family for lunch at the fellowship hall at First Baptist Church. ƒMr. and Mrs. John Sutherland and Brad enjoyed a trip to the mountains Monday and Tuesday. They spent Monday night in Gatlinburg and went to Cherokee and other interesting places. ƒElaine Filipiak, who is employed by FEMA and travels to many areas and is now in Lisle, Illinois, made a brief trip home. She visited her son, Reid Filipiak, then went to Columbus to attend a school reunion and also to see her mother-in-law, Mrs. Jo Friese. ƒReid Filipiak enjoyed a trip to the mountains last weekend and spent Friday night in Helen. ƒ Mr. and Mrs. Terry Flood visited James and Samille Sherrer Thursday afternoon. They came from New York and were on the way to Florida for the winter. ƒ James and Samille Sherrer were among the many friends who enjoyed a delicious fish supper at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Forehannd in Raytown Saturday night. ƒJanet Blaine was real excited about going hunting and shooting her first deer which was a nice size buck. Scott also got one later in the day. Spending the weekend with them were Clayton and Nancy Blaine of Dahlonega. Visiting them during the week were Roger Lock of Conyers and Paul Duffy of Winder. ƒAfter services at Clifford's Grove Sunday, I joined James at Raytown Baptist church for the regular third Sunday covered dish meal. I learned that Rev. Wade Palmer loves peach cobbler as much as James Sherrer does. ƒLaziness is an overwhelming love of physical calm.
