Quilt to be raffled November 1

The beautiful 2008 quilt shown at the October 17 meeting of the Tignall Homemakers meeting will be raffled at the Tignall Fall Festival Saturday, November 1.

Tickets may be obtained from members or at the festival. Cost is $5.00 for a book of six. The quilt will be displayed at the Tignall branch of the Farmers and Merchants Bank. The president, Celeste Adams, thanked Pat Mack, Becky Dixon, Joann Bailey, Kitten Fain, Louise Harper, Ellen Bunch and Flossie Rhodes for their many hours of work in completing the quilt.

The club will also sell soup, cornbread, and desserts at the festival. Marilyn Summerlin passed around a list for volunteers who will provide and serve them.

After a devotional reading and prayer delivered by Louise Harper, Celeste Adams and Linda Burns served delicious refreshments in a lively Halloween setting.

Guest speaker Linda Daniel summarized the history of the ancient art of bead-making which dates back some 5,000 years and occurred on every continent. Pam Fain demonstrated the tools and methods she and Linda use in making very lovely jewelry from beads, some of which will be on sale at the festival.
