Memorial services for Anne Giardini Bennett, 79, of 425 Thomson Road, Washington, were held Tuesday, October 21, 2008, at the Episcopal Church of the Mediator, Washington, with Rev. Deni Moss officiating. She died October 18.

Mrs. Bennett was born in Syracuse, New York, and reared in Ann Arbor, Michigan. She was the daughter of the late Edgar and Lou Johnston and was the widow of Dr. Al Giardini. She was a former resident of Athens and Watkinsville, and had made her home in Washington for the past 12 years. She was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Mediator.

Survivors include her husband, Dr. Paul J. Bennett of Washington; children, Michele Butterfield of Elberton, Richard Giardini (Marty Radford) of Watkinsville, Melissa Kilpatrick (Doug) of Bogart, and Peter Giardini (Debbie) of Elberton; a brother, Tom Johhnston; two sisters, Elaine Speich and Marty Nortman; and four grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Lord and Stephens, West, of Athens was in charge of arrangements.
