Funeral services for George D. Champion Jr., 34, of Crawfordville, were held Saturday, October 18, 2008, at the Greater Level Hill Baptist Church, Crawfordville, with Dr. Samuel Duggan officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery. He died Thursday, October 9, 2008, at the Medical College of Georgia, Augusta.

Mr. Champion was a native of Crawfordville and the son of George Champion and Sarah Champion. He was a retired E-5 United States Navy Veteran, having served for 14 years. He was a member of the Greater Level Hill Baptist Church where he was a member of the junior usher board and superintendent of Sunday School.

Survivors in addition to his parents, include his wife, Nattie Tojobeppu Champion; three children, Shawn, Tracie, and Ronny Champion, Jacksonville, Fla.; two sisters, Annie Champion, Crawfordville, and Melissa Champion, Jacksonville.

Pallbearers included David Stephens, Bobby L. Stephens, Anthony Terrell, Rockwell Powell, Michael Bell, and Kenneth Manson.

McLendon Memorial Funeral Home of Washington was in charge of arrangements.
