Blue for Kids enriches lives

Marvin Hudson, a Major League Baseball (MLB) umpire from Washington, was the guest speaker at the regular meeting of the Washington Kiwanis Club on Tuesday, October 21. Hudson is President of Blue for Kids, an organization founded by MLB umpires in 2006 designed to enrich the lives of at-risk youth and children coping with serious illnesses. The organization provides memorable sports experiences, supports pediatric medical care, and raises the awareness of foster care for children waiting to be adopted. Hudson updated members on the activities Blue for Kids umpires, players, and others during the past year. He said that 15 hospitals had been visited and that over 2,000 game tickets were given to children. Bill Smith (left) was the program host for the day.
