A group of foreign officers with the United States Naval Supply Corps in Athens visited Washington- Wilkes last week.

The had lunch at Holly Court Inn and then visited the Washington Historic Museum and Callaway Plantation.

Of special interest to them was a visit at the home of Dolores McAvoy to see the aviation memorabilia of her late husband, Hollice McAvoy. Some of McAvoy's airplanes have been moved and are on display elsewhere. The remaining ones in Wilkes County are hand-carved and will be available for the public through December.

Thirteen of the airplanes are on display indefinitely at Hartsfield International Airport in Atlanta and 15 are at the Warner Robins Air Force Museum where the remaining planes will be after December.

Mrs. McAvoy invites anyone who is interested in a tour to call for an appointment to see the collection.
