Third-graders get dictionaries for Webster's birthday

Kiwanian Carolyn Reynolds passes out dictionaries to third-graders at Washington-Wilkes Primary School as members of the Washington Kiwanis Club celebrated the birthday of Noah Webster, creator of America's dictionary, by passing out some 130 dictionaries this week. "Each student was presented with a dictionary which contained a bookplate, hand-inscribed with the student's name and the date of the presentation," Kiwanian Bob Simmons said. Washington-Wilkes Primary School Principal Florence Sandifer and Librarian Lillie Crowe introduced the Kiwanians and thanked them for the dictionaries, and several students attended the Tuesday meeting of the Washington Kiwanis Club to express their appreciation.
