New Beginnings
      Madison Olivia Phillips Robert and Shala Phillips of Lavonia announce the birth of their daughter, Madison Olivia, on Sunday, September 28, at St. Mary's Hospital in Athens. Livie, as she will be called, weighed 8 lbs. 2 ozs., and was 20 ½ inches long. She has a sister, Taylor, who is six years old.

Henry Townsend celebrates third birthday Oct. 23
      Henry Townsend, son of Chris and Tara Townsend, celebrated his third birthday on October 23 and celebrated on two occasions. Henry's parents took him and his brother Garston to dinner at LaCabana on his birthday where he was treated to fried ice cream for dessert as the servers sang "Happy Birthday" to him.

      The 54th annual reunion of the National Society of the Washington Family Descendants was recently held in Fredericksburg, Va. C. Carol Cartledge, one of the cousins of George Washington, attended and was elected by the 60 members attending to the position on the Board of Directors of Second Vice-President General, being promoted from Third Vice-President General.

FBC Silver Streaks enjoy Reynolds Home Tour Oct. 25
      The Silver Streaks of the First Baptist Church enjoyed a trip to Lake Oconee Saturday, October 25, for the Reynolds Home Tour. The group toured five homes and enjoyed a picnic luncheon. The afternoon event was capped off with a scenic pontoon ride on Lake Oconee with view of beautiful homes and landscaping as well as the colorful changing leaves.

Advance tickets now on sale
     7, at the Washington-Wilkes Elementary School cafeteria beginning p.m. and tickets are now available. In fact, you don't really need a ticket - all you have to do is show up and get your ticket at the door. The menu is simple but fabulous - homemade pancakes grilled to perfection from the Rotary Club's secret recipe, tasty sausage, milk, tea, and plenty of butter and syrup. Server Mildred Peeler and Jerry Stover (above) encourage to eat their fill before the W-W Tiger football game against Aquinas. Take out boxes will also be available and, as always, the Rotarians will furnishing meals to all residents in Wilkes County nursing homes and personal care homes.

First deer is a nine-pointer
     Avery Hall of Rayle bagged this nine-point deer Thursday, October 23, while hunting on private land in Rayle with his dad. This was Avery's first deer. He is the son of Boyce and Pam Hall.
