Tigers embarrassed by Wilkinson, must win to see postseason
      Last Friday the Washington- Wilkes Tigers traveled to Irwinton to take on the Wilkinson County Warriors in the last away game of the regular season. The Warriors came out on top in the game by score of 44-7. The Tigers received the ball to start off the game for the first time this year.

Basketball registration begins for 2008 season at W-WPRD
      Registration has begun for the 2008-2009 youth basketball season at the Washington-Wilkes Parks and Recreation Department. Pete Gartrell, director of the department, has supplied the following information about the increase in fees for participants.

Busby runs races and wins medals in cross country
      Johna Raine Busby, 12-year-old granddaughter of Patricia D. Bailey and the late Billy E. Bailey, ran three cross country track races for the Elbert County Middle School and won three medals. She ran at Jefferson against 175 runners and came in ninth. At Unicoi State Park, she was 19th out of 200 runners.

W-W Little League sets organizational meeting for Nov. 11
      There will be a Washington-Wilkes Little League meeting Tuesday, November 11, at 6 p.m. in the upstairs office at Ashley Park. Anyone who wishes to participate in the upcoming 2009 Little League season is invited to attend. Officers will be elected and there will be a general planning meeting for the season.

Homecoming activities next week will put 'Spotlight on Tigers' prior to game
      With a theme of "Spotlight on the Tigers," Washington-Wilkes Comprehensive High School's Homecoming activities will fill next week with blue and gold, culminating with Friday night's (November 7) game at Tiger Stadium. The Tigers will play Aquinas beginning at 7:30 p.m. and homecoming ceremonies will be held during halftime.
