In honor of Breast Cancer Prevention and Awareness Month, the University Health Care System Breast Health Center, Wilkes County Health Department, and the American Cancer Society (ASC) have teamed up to present a Breast Cancer Brunch and Learn at the Washington-Wilkes Parks and Recreation Center on Lexington Avenue in Washington on Wednesday, November 5, from 10 a.m. until noon.

The event promises to be both fun and informative and those attending should learn more about the prevention and early detection of breast cancer. There will be food, goodie bags, and door prizes provided.

The brunch is open to the public, but space is limited to 20 women so registration is required. Interested persons should contact Summer Garrison, ACS representative, at 1-866-227-0904 (toll free) by Monday, November 3. The brunch is provided by University Health Care System Breast Health Center.

The center offers a comprehensive array of well-coordinated breast health services, including education, diagnostic testing, treatment options and support. For those persons who have been diagnosed with breast cancer, the Breast Health Center can help them through treatment and give follow-up support. Providing care with dignity in a supportive environment is the first step to restoring health.

The Atlanta-based American Cancer Society is dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem by saving lives, diminishing suffering and preventing cancer through research, education, advocacy, and service. Founded in 1913 and with national headquarters in Atlanta, the Society has 13 regional divisions and local offices in 3,400 communities, involving millions of volunteers across the United States.
