We had a great fall festival at Clifford's Grove Baptist Church Saturday night with approximately 40 attending and everyone having a good time. The kids enjoyed games outside before dark, after a supper of all kinds of soup, chili, sandwiches, and delicious desserts. There were door prizes and cake walks. There were lots of cakes. (I was lucky to win a delicious caramel cake.) Scott Blaine brought his tractor and trailer for the hayride. Children of all ages, and one old lady (guess who), enjoyed the ride. ƒScott and Janet Blaine joined Tim Worley of Athens for lunch in Washington Friday. They visited Clayton and Nancy Blaine at their hunting club Saturday and that night they visited with Paul and Lynn Duffy of Hochston, also at the club. ƒPam and Ricky McCarty went to Jackson Sunday to attend the birthday celebration of his grandparents, John and Rosa White. Her birthday was Saturday, October 25, and his was Monday, October 27. They both were 89. They live in Westbrook Assisted Living Home where the party was held with about 50 family members present. A five-generation picture was made of Mrs. White, her daughter, granddaughter, great-grandson, and great-greatgranddaughter. ƒOur sympathy is with the family of Ruth Bell who died Wednesday of last week. James and I attended visitation at Hopkins Funeral Home Friday night and graveside services at Washington- Wilkes Memorial Gardens Saturday morning. ƒJames Sherrer was among the members of Raytown Baptist Church who attended a steak supper at the church Saturday night honoring Rev. Wade Palmer for pastor appreciation.
ƒWillard and Sue Lance had lunch with Elizabeth Barber in Athens Sunday. They are helping her make plans for her wedding next month. ƒIris Dyson visited Kim Poss in Lincolnton Sunday afternoon. ƒWhitney Branham was among the youth of Tignall Baptist Church who enjoyed the cookout and hayride at the home of Almond Standard Sunday night. ƒBuild up, don't break down; commend, don't criticize; give, don't grasp; love, don't hate; pray, don't pout; smile, don't scowl; triumph, don't tumble.
