W-WPS celebrates life choices in school's Red Ribbon Week
contest where they drew pictures of themselves in the future, living a drug free life. Winners were selected from each grade and were announced at the pep rally. The winners were Alaina Callaway from kindergarten; Emily Weaver from the first grade; Morgan Huff from the second grade; and Lykah Mora from the third grade.
Activities at W-WPS during Red Ribbon Week included a visit from the Wilkes County EMS (top photo) and a celebration with Tiger varsity athletes (bottom). Speakers from the Wilkes County Sheriff's Department and EMS, along with McGruff the Crime Dog, spoke to the children about the dangers of using drugs and the effects drugs and alcohol can have on their choices.
The students enjoyed dress-up days, which included a day where they dressed in their dream jobs.
"Red Ribbon Week was a great opportunity for students not only to learn about the dangers of drugs, but have fun while learning," said Principal Florence Sandifer.
