Annual food drive accepting donations through November 2
You can be a part of the community wide effort to participate in "It's Spooky to be Hungry," a food drive to benefit Golden Harvest Food Bank.
Since its inception in 1992, "It's Spooky to be Hungry" has brought hundreds of people together in fun, significant community-building volunteer work.
In Wilkes County, radio station WLOV is collecting canned goods or donations to be part of the largest grassroots effort to help needy neighbors in the CSRA.
Donations may include nonperishable, commercially prepared food, with an additional request for disposable diapers and baby wipes. Monetary donations are also appreciated. Please make out all taxdeductible checks to "It's Spooky To Be Hungry."
Collections will be accepted now through November 2.
With every $1 donated, Golden Harvest is able to distribute nearly $7 of food to the needy. For example, if $10 is donated, then nearly $70 worth of food is actually distributed. If $50 is donated, then nearly $350 worth of food is distributed. If $100 is donated, then nearly $700 worth of food is distributed!
This year, more people than ever need a little help from their neighbors.
