William Lakin Lamar, son of Drew and Beth Lamar of Grovetown, celebrated his first birthday with a party at his home October 18. He was one October 23.

Will wore baby blue longalls with a cupcake on the front of it over a white turtleneck.

Guests arrived at 1 p.m. to enjoy a cookout that included hamburgers and hot dogs with all the trimmings, potato salad, coleslaw and chips.

A theme of blue, brown, and white polka dots was carried out for the party. A banner reading "Happy Birthday Will" and his photo invitations were handmade by his mother in a scrapbook-style fashion.

The backyard and eating area were decorated with balloons and alternating blue and white tablecloths each marking a seat with a brown placemat. M&M's of blue, brown and white that read "Happy Birthday" and "Will is 1" were scattered down the middle of each table along with blue pails holding white and brown polka-dotted candles inside each one.

After presents, guests enjoyed a cake decorated with blue and brown polka dots, cupcakes and ice cream.

Party favors were pumpkins which guests were encouraged to decorate using paint pens, foam stickers and stencils.

At the end of the party, Will and some of his close family released balloons with messages written on them in remembrance of George L. Wheatley, Will's great-grandfather, who passed away in February.

Fifty guests were invited.

Will also celebrated on his birthday at Cornerstone Christian Academy with cupcakes and was treated to a birthday dinner on Friday night at Miyabi's Japanese Steakhouse with his parents and friends, Erin, Tina, Catherine and Evan Grunfelder of Evans.
