With a theme of "Spotlight on the Tigers," Washington-Wilkes Comprehensive High School's Homecoming activities will fill next week with blue and gold, culminating with Friday night's (November 7) game at Tiger Stadium.

The Tigers will play Aquinas beginning at 7:30 p.m. and homecoming ceremonies will be held during halftime. There will be a bonfire at Tiger Stadium Thursday night at 7:30 following homecoming rehearsal.

The Homecoming Court includes seniors Kea Walton, Jasmine Hulin, Lindsey Guin, Fatima Oguje, Haley Ward, Roshanda King, and Brittany Hampton; juniors Ashley Jackson and Jessica Murphy; sophomores Dauri Binns and Cayla Gilland; and freshmen Teliesha Tatum and Hannah McTier.

All next week, students will celebrate Spirit Week with special dress-up days, Amy Wheatley said. Monday is "Around the World Day," encouraging international and regional clothing; Tuesday is Duct Tape Day, with clothing and accessories of duct tape. Wednesday is Color Day, when each grade is assigned a color and the grade with the highest percentage of their color worn will win a prize. Thursday is "Guess Who Day," when students can dress like celebrities from music, sports, and media.

Friday, of course, is Blue and Gold Day, with students dressed head to toe in Blue and Gold spirit.

The homecoming parade will be held Friday afternoon beginning at 4 p.m. leaving from behind the school to Spring Street, north to The Square, then on to Tiger Stadium.

Following the game, the Key Club will host the school's homecoming dance. The dance is for all W-WCHS students and will be held from 9:30 p.m. until midnight.
