Lamar Berry is recuperating nicely at his home on Glenn Road after surgery and a seven-day stay at the Medical College of Georgia in Augusta. Please continue your prayers for him for a quick and complete recovery. ƒShane Echols is also recuperating nicely after back surgery in Virginia Beach, Va. Norman and Joan Echols have been with him this past week. Please continue your prayers for his quick and complete recovery. ƒAngela Armour, Cody and Hunter, Samantha Callaway, Scott and Sissy Smith, Abby and J.T., Richard and Lou Heard, Mattie and Hank, enjoyed Sunday dinner with Buck and Linda Echols. ƒFred Weidner spent from Tuesday to Saturday with Clyde and Sandy Whittington. Kyle Frankel spent Saturday afternoon with Clyde and Sandy and joining them for supper Saturday evening were Neil and Kim Frankel, Zachery and Bryce. Zachery spent Sunday night with the Whittingtons. ƒLouise Smith and Lucile Edmonds of Anderson, S.C., spent Wednesday to Sunday afternoon with Doris Walker. The three sisters enjoyed being together as usual. ƒSunday of last week, Richard Burkett, Joann Perez, and Frances Fendley enjoyed a nice little trip to the mountains of North Georgia and Cherokee to see the pretty leaves and other sights along the way. ƒDebra (Bobby) Armour, Rebecca and Raeleigh Armour and Frances Fendley went to Quiet Oaks Nursing Home in Crawford to the Halloween party Thursday. The residents enjoyed the children coming in their Halloween costumes and the treats. Frances also visited with Melvie Esco while they were there. ƒPeggy Echols and Gail Swann of Comer enjoyed going to a retired postmasters meeting in Peachtree City Friday and Saturday of last week. ƒBill Kennedy and children came and spent Monday with Sudie Kennedy. ƒJohnny and Kathryn Shedd's visitors Sunday afternoon were Cody Paul and Ashtyn, Gail Stewart, Hannah Wright, and Ava and Nell Shedd. ƒBryson Porter spent Saturday with Kim Berry and Aaliya. Kim, Aaliya, and Ruby Arnold visited Lamar and Kay Berry, Trey Berry, Kaitlyn and Bryson Porter Saturday evening. ƒAaliya Berry attended a Halloween party at the home of Tiffany Roberson in Tignall Saturday night. ƒRuby Arnold and Dorothy Callaway went over to Flatwoods Sunday to a birthday party at the home of David and Christie Hilley. ƒTroy and Shirley Chafin's guests over the week were Mack Chafin, Ronnie Chafin, Tommy Fong, Kenny Prak, and Ken, and Sheila Arnold. Sunday supper guests were Ronnie and Racquel, Terri and Tangi. Alex Avery spent the weekend with Haley Hill Chafin. ƒPeggy Echols, Martha Hall, and Sudie Kennedy went to Augusta Tuesday to take some items to the Ronald McDonald House that the Lunch and Learn Club had brought. They enjoyed eating out and a little shopping. ƒJ.W. and I went to Athens Monday of last week for my doctor's appointment at Northeast Georgia Cancer Care and I received a good report. We stopped by the Heritage Nursing Home where I visited Katie Sherrer Goolsby. Katie is paralyzed from the waist down after she was in a car accident involving a truck about year and a half ago. She is anticipating going to the Christmas program at her church in Watkinsville in December through the efforts of the choir members of hr church i Watkinsville. I will report more of this in December. Katie has strong ties to Wilkes County and misses coming here and seeing friends.
ƒNiina Boatwright joined Ed and Velma Crook of Lincolnton to attend visitation at the funeral home in Augusta of Nina's uncle, Bill Caldwell. ƒBonnie Boatwright enjoyed going to the Tignall Fall Festival Saturday and won a nice hummingbird cake (Paula Dean's recipe) at the cake walk. It is a delicious cake that deserves recognition, but they failed to put their name on it. ƒJ.W. and Bonnie Boatwright visited Lamar and Kay Berry, Kaitlyn and Bryson Porter Sunday afternoon. ƒThe Philomath Church Preservation Association will have a low country boil on Saturday, November 8, at the Buckman Barn in Philomath. Appetizers will be served at 6:30 p.m. and dinner, complete with dessert and drink, at 7 p.m. Advance sales only. Cost is $25 per person. The money will support the restoration of the Presbyterian Church in Philomath.
