2008-11-06 / News
On Wednesday, October 29, the members of the Washington Police Department presented a program on the importance of being drug-free at the Reese Booker A-STAR Center (lower left, above) during which they discussed the history of Red Ribbon Week. At each of the other A-STAR sites (also pictured), the children in attendance canvassed the neighborhoods, and passed out substance abuse prevention ribbons with slogans such as "Boo to Drugs" and "Be Smart, Don't Start!" The Wilkes County Community Partnership A-STAR Program is funded by the Deptartment of Human Resources - Division of Public Health/Prevention Services and Programs.
