Funeral services for Emma Louise Gartrell were held at the First Baptist Church, Lincolnton, on October 30, 2008, with Rev. Roy Andrews, eulogist. Interment was in the Rocky Mount Baptist Church Cemetery. She died October 27.

Mrs. Gartrell was a native of Wilkes County and the daughter of Rebecca Quinn and the late Willie Joe Quinn. She received her education in the Wilkes County school system and was a member of Rocky Mount Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, James "Buddy" Gartrell Jr.; three daughters, Cynthia Norman, Lincolnton, Stephanie Gartrell and Audrey Gartrell of Washington; two sons, James Gartrell and Barry Gartrell of Washington; her mother, Rebecca Quinn of Washington; two sisters, Lila Wright, Athens, and Lillie Mae Shelton, Arkansas; five brothers, Willie Quinn, Danny Quinn, Rev. Dennis Quinn, and Frederick Quinn, all of Washington, and Leon Quinn of Anderson, S.C.; 15 grandchildren; and two greatgrandchildren.

McLendon Memorial Funeral Home of Washington was in charge of arrangements.
