Alison Leslie Forster Michael Garrett Barney Mr. and Mrs. Edward Forster of Antrim, N.H., announce the engagement of their daughter, Alison Leslie, of Arlington, Mass., to Michael Garrett Barney of Knoxville, Tenn., son of Rev. and Mrs. David M. Barney of Concord, Mass.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. John P. Godley of East Orange, N.J., and the late Mr. and Mrs. Edward Forster of Linden, N.J.

She is a graduate of Contoocook Valley Regional High School in Peterborough, N.H., and Harvard University in Boston, Mass., where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree. Miss Barney is an executive assistant with ACME Packet, Inc., in Burlington, Mass.

Mr. Barney is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. William H. Garrett of Tignall and the late Mr. and Mrs. Marshall H. Barney of Towson, Md.

He is a graduate of Concord- Carlisle High School in Concord, Mass., and earned his Bachelor of Science in Psychology, Sociology and Anthropology from Guildford College in Greensboro, N. C. He also earned his Master of Science in Social Work from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, Tenn. Mr. Barney is a mental health therapist at Ridgeview Mental Health Center in LaFollette, Tenn.
