Last Friday the Washington- Wilkes Tigers played the Warren County Screaming Devils in the Tigers' first home game in seven weeks. Washington-Wilkes made up for last week with a win on Senior Night by a score of 41-14. The Tigers kicked the ball off to the Screaming Devils to start the game.

John Gowen kicked the ball off for Washington to the Warren 16- yard line and the kick was returned seven yards to the 23-yard line. The Screaming Devils went threeand out on their first possession of the game gaining a total of three yards. Warren County punted the ball 41 yards to the Tiger 33-yard line and no return was offered by the Tigers.

The Washington offense started its first drive from its own 33-yard line. On the Tigers' second play of the game, sophomore running back Eric Scott ran the ball for the first W-W first down of the game. Two plays later quarterback Teverrius Jones hooked up with senior Drew Wilson for an 11-yard gain and another first down. Scott broke free a 36-yard run on the next play and scored a touchdown two plays later on a two-yard run. Gowen made the extra-point to put the Tigers on top by the score of 7-0.

The Screaming Devils started their next possession from their 28- yard line after a 40-yard kick and an eight-yard return. The Warren County offense again went three plays and out for the second drive in a row. Washington-Wilkes took over from their 32-yard line after the Devil punt. The Tigers also went three-and-out and were forced to punt for their first time in the game. Tyrece Ashmore punted the ball 58-yards and the Warren return man lost four-yards on the return.

The Screaming Devils were forced to punt to Washington for the third time in a row after just three plays. On the Tigers first play Scott fumbled the ball over to Warren County who scored on the next play with a 65-yard run. The extra-point was good which tied the game at 7-7.

Dexter Norman returned the kickoff 32 yards out to the Devil 49-yard line. The next play Eric Scott ran the ball 49-yards for W-W's second touchdown of the game. Gowen made the point-after-attempt to give the Tigers the lead at 14-7. Warren County fumbled the kickoff which was recovered by Lavorius Jones. Three plays later Scott ran the ball in for his and Washington's third touchdown of the game. The extrapoint was again made by Gowen advancing the Tiger lead to 21-7.

The Screaming Devils started their next drive from their own 32- yard line. Two plays into the possession, D'Andre Stewart recovered a Warren County fumble to give the ball back to Washington. On third down, Deon Jackson ran the ball 23-yards for a first down. The Tigers missed a field goal attempt on fourth down giving the Devils the ball on their 20-yard line. On third down Warren County gained their only first down of the half but then had to punt three plays later on fourth down.

The Washington offense took over on the Devil 49-yard line with little time left in the half. On second down, Jones threw a 41-yard pass to Deandre Stewart down to the five-yard line. The next play Scott scored another rushing touchdown. Gowen made his fourth extra-point in a row to put W-W on top 28-7. Warren got in two plays on their next drive before half time.

John Gowen recovered a short kick by the Screaming Devils on the Tiger 40-yard line. On the second play of the half, Scott ran the ball 18-yards for a Washington first down. Three plays later Jones hooked up with Deon Jackson for a 38-yard touchdown pass. Gowen made the extra-point making the score 35-7 in favor of the Tigers.

Warren County started their first drive of the second half from their 33-yard line. The Devils went three and out for the fifth time of the game and punted the ball 29-yards to the Washington 43-yard line. On the Tigers first play, Jones ran the ball 22-yards for a first down. The next play, Scott achieved another first down on a 15-yard run. Five plays later Jones ran the ball one yard in for a touchdown. The point-afterattempt was blocked leaving the Washington lead at 41-7.

The Screaming Devils and the Tigers then had alternating threeand outs. On Warrens drive after the three-and-outs, they achieved a first down on third down put then had to punt three plays later. The Washington JV offense was put in for a series and went three-and-out.

On their first play, the Devils broke a 12-yard run for a first down. The next play, Antonio Acree intercepted a pass, but the Tigers were called for a personal foul giving Warren County a first down and the ball back. Three plays later the Devils threw a 40-yard pass down to the one-yard line from where they scored on the next play. The extra-point was good, reducing the Tiger lead to 41-14. Warren County attempted an onsides kick which was recovered by Washington. Time ran out before the Tigers could get a play off leaving the final score at 41-14.

The Washington offense put up 253-yards rushing led by Eric Scott with 176 rushing yards with four touchdowns on 16 carries. Scott passed the 1000-yard rushing mark for the second season in a row. The Tiger defense held the Devils to 150-yards of total offense led by Anthony Smith who had 8 tackles, 5 assists, and 3 sacks and Justin Guin who had 7 tackles, 6 assists.

This Friday, the Washington- Wilkes Tigers take on the Aquinas Fighting Irish at home in the last game of the regular season. Aquinas bases out of a Wing-T offense and 4-4 defense. The game is also homecoming for the Tigers so come out and support the team.
