Art Ramble Nov. 14-16 covers 31-mile stretch, five galleries

Mark your calendars to spend a leisurely fun few hours each day of the weekend November 14-16 on "The Art Ramble" and discover a whole new world. Every stop offers different art forms and you can watch artists demonstrate their unique crafts. Five local art businesses have banded together to create the ramble - they're close together in the convenient 31-mile stretch from Washington to Union Point to Greensboro.

At the Art Gallery La Place on The Square in Washington, there will be a reception to launch the show and meet the artists of the "Rural Georgia & the Vanishing South" exhibit and sale on Thursday, November 13 from 6-8 p.m. On Friday local Washington artist Laura Connelly Sleighter will demonstrate her painting techniques and in the afternoon Bob Connelly will demonstrate his sculpting. On Saturday, November 15, Augusta potter Tierney Rollins will throw pots on the wheel .

Textiles and fabric will be featured at The Point of Art Gallery & Studio in Union Point at the second annual "Textile Extravaganza." Artist Margaret Warfield will demonstrate painting on her handmade jackets on Friday, November 14, and Susannah Flanigan and Jenifer Borg will demonstrate weaving and mixed textile media art on Saturday. Bringing more culinary art to the event Chef Doug Janousek will join the gallery on Saturday when he signs his new art and recipes cookbook, Home Cookin' Illustrated."

Other points of interest include Greensboro's Genuine Georgia, The Hampton Fine Art Gallery, and the Historic Mill Studio's painting workshop.
