Bobby and Sarah Myers honored at 50th anniversary celebration

Sarah and Bobby Myers Sarah and Bobby Myers Bobby and Sarah Myers of Washington were honored on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary at a celebration Saturday afternoon, October 18, a the home of their daughter, Jeannie Bruce, and granddaughters, Joni and Jennifer, in Washington.

The happy occasion was hosted by their daughters, Mrs. Bruce and Angie Mobley, and granddaughters, Joni and Jennifer Bruce, Hannah Sifre and Summer Taylor.

Mr. and Mrs. Myers, the former Sarah Eberhardt of Oglethorpe County, were married Saturday, October 18, l958.

For the celebration, Mrs. Myers wore a floral top over a black skirt. She was presented a corsage of Burgundy rosebuds with gold ribbon. Mr. Myers was presented a matching boutonniere, a gift from his nephew, Ben and Kathy Lamar.

The guest register table was decorated with a budvase of fall flowers and a gold "50."

Decorations throughout the house and party area outside featured arrangements of fall flowers, pumpkins, fall leaves and scarecrows.

Guests enjoyed a delicious assortment of party foods that included chicken salad, pimento cheese and crackers, ham dip and crackers, L'il Smokies in barbecue sauce, chips with ranch dip, toasted pecans, peanuts, party mints, cookies, pickle tray, green olives, cream cheese with pepper jelly and crackers. A frozen fruit ring accented the punch bowl from which guests enjoyed a refreshing party punch.

The anniversary cake was a Red Velvet confection with two large hearts side by side and one smaller heart on top in the center. The cake was decorated with a humorous bride pulling the bridegroom and a gold "50" entwined with Burgundy and gold rose buds. Miniature bouquets of Burgundy roses and gypsophila were arranged around the cake. In addition to this cake there was a pumpkin-shaped spice cake frosted in orange cream cheese icing. The cakes were made by Mrs. Bruce as a gift to her parents.

The gift table featured a picture of the couple from about 25 years ago. Also used in decorating were pictures from their 25th anniversary celebration.

About 60 family members and friends attended the celebration.
