Cornelia Johnson Circle of FUMC meets at Branan home on Nov. 4
The Cornelia Johnson Circle of the First United Methodist Church met in the home of Susan Branan Tuesday evening, November 4.
As members arrived, they were served delicious refreshments by the hostess and co-hostess, Randee Barry.
Laura Toburen presided and offered the opening prayer.
After reports from the secretary and treasurer were made, committee reports were given. Bunny Gunby reported on cards sent; Kay Bray reported on the Back to Basics project for Hope Center in Zimbabwe that will continue through Sunday, November 30, and Linda Smith reported on the We Care ministry.
Mrs. Toburen reminded members of Christmas Family Day at the Pre- Release Center Friday, December 5. She also told members that Rachel Arnold will be the Circle's contact person for recipes for the new cookbook. The Seeker's Circle will get the book ready for publication.
The Circle voted to get toilet articles for the ladies in the Women's Prison in Davisboro. Mrs. Toburen will gather these at the Christmas party and make the delivery.
The Circle also voted to join the ladies from the Thrift Store for the Relay for Life team.
Announcements included the gospel sing in the church fellowship hall on November 9; the Christmas outing to White Columns on December 2; Angel Tree Project delivery on December 13; Circle-sponsored meal for church senior members on December 16; Christmas Cantata on December 21 in the fellowship hall; and the January meeting at the home of Pauline Bell with Kay Bray as hostess.
Bunny Gunby reviewed a chapter from the book, "A Woman Jesus Can Teach". A time of discussion followed.
