I understand that when ducks stand on one leg, you should expect cold weather. Well, I'm sure you will see plenty of one-legged ducks now with all this winter weather this week. I wonder if standing on one leg makes one warmer. Maybe I will try it. ƒThe Town of Tignall is proud of the quick response of the city with replacing the broken window from the door of the North Wilkes Library. Of course that window costs more than the $1.50 stolen. ƒRichard Zera once said, "Childhood is that wonderful time of life when all you need to do to lose weight is take a bath." Many of us need to be children again after that meal at the Tignall Baptist Church homecoming. I've never seen so much food. We had no fear of starving. ƒSpending the weekend with Hugh and Nobie Keener were Chris and Angie Keener, Madison and Nolan of Loganville; and Vince Keener of Snellville. ƒDaisy Parker and Esther Dawson spent Monday through Thursday with their sister, Sadie Simmons, in Kings Mountain, N.C. While there, Sadie's daughter, Linda Goble, came to see them. ƒAlex and Kay Tyler attended a football game in Dawsonville Saturday where their grandson, Jordan Tyler, played in the Georgia Youth Football Association Super Bowl. His team won the championship. ƒ Visiting with Louie and Vivian Wolozin Saturday were Dale and Kathy Robertson of Winder. ƒSpending several days with Myrline Thornton were Amy and Caroline Paul of Oxford, Mich. ƒDavid and Nancy Hilley visited from Tuesday until Sunday of last week with Mr. and Mrs. David T. Hilley and Savannah in Ocala, Florida. They attended Anthony Baptist Church there on Sunday. ƒWe extend sincere sympathy to the family of Diane Bailey, to her husband, Thomas, her daughters, Shelby and Olivia, and to her mother-in-law, JoAnn Bailey. Let's keep this family in our prayers. ƒLet's remember Rev. Albert Huyck in our prayers as he has suffered for about three weeks now with severe pain in his right hip and right leg. Let's also remember Billie Ann Smith as she has had foot surgery and Shirley Jenkins is having eye surgery on December 1. ƒThe sweatshirts with the water tank and "I'd Rather Be In Tignall" on the front and the Tignall cookbooks will make great Christmas presents. If anyone wants one of these items please contact Gloria Ware at 706-285-2058; or Carolyn Gammon at 706-285-2736. Members of the North Wilkes Steering Committee are Celeste Adams, Pat Bobo, Sherri Bowers, Margie Bunch, Paula Butts, Susannah Carter, Vernilla Clark, Brooke Dawson, Margaret Fortson, Carolyn Gammon, Pat Grimaud, Gloria Harris, Nobie Keener, Cissy Rogers, Jessie Shoemaker, and Gloria Ware. These members are preparing the town of Tignall for Christmas now with the Christmas parade on December 7, and the dedication of the gazebo on December 11. ƒThere will be a miscellaneous bridal shower for Sable Echols, bride-elect of Matthew VanHart, on Sunday, November 30, from 2 until 3:30 p.m. in the Family Life Center of Tignall Baptist Church.
