Tignall Baptist homecoming held Sunday for a full church
There was a full church Sunday at Tignall Baptist Church Homecoming.
The service started with a power point presentation done by Lori Tucker of many of the deceased members and some of the activities of the church. The special music included the Kids Alive Choir, and adult choir, and Shirley Le- Roy Gunter who sang "Lamb of God." Shirley also told the congregation about her memories of this church and how Mrs. Gladys House was instrumental in encouraging her love for missions.
Each household was presented notepads with a house magnet clip commemorating the 110th anniversary. The morning message was presented by Dr. Rick Standard of Hull. Dr. Standard's wife Laura also accompanied him. Rick became and ordained minister while he was a member of Tignall Baptist and accepted the call under the leadership of Rev. Gene Hiers who was the pastor at that time. He spoke of his memories here.
Also present were Rev. Gene Hiers and his wife Reba. Rev. Hiers spoke at the end of the service. He was pastor of this church in the 1960s and many members were excited to see him.
After the service everyone went to the Family Life Center for a delicious meal with everyone's favorite barbecue cooked by Clyde and Greg Rogers with the help of other members. The tables were beautifully decorated by Carol McTier and Terri Smith.
Some of the out-of-town people attending were Mary Thornton Jacobs of Monticello; Alicia Thornton, Robert and Nicholas Randolph of Athens, who brought Myrline Thornton; Ida Nor- man and Henrilyn Carlton Cleland of Sylvania; Joy Echols Hadden and her son, Al Carter, of North Augusta, who brought Jeannie Echols; Boots and Shirley Gunter of Washington; Rev. and Mrs. Gene Hiers of Swainsboro; Mike and Miriam Bobo of McDonough; and Mr. and Mrs. Paul Wilson of Conyers, as well as others from the community.
