Apron Gang' keeps seniors entertained at Baptist luncheon
About 37 senior adults were entertained with antics of the "Apron Gang" (Pat Bobo, Carolyn Gammon, Gloria Harris, and Billie Ann Smith,) at a luncheon for senior adults in the Tignall Baptist Church Family Life Center.
One of the gang played the piano with her bonnet, mismatched socks and work boots. One sat and rocked while dipping her cocoa snuff, and the other two were all dolled up in hairpins and wave clips ironed with a black smoothing iron on an old ironing board while telling old tales of how the apron was used during the early 1940s.
Many aprons, some borrowed from the senior adults, were used in the decorating of the center. Many of the senior adults participated by telling tales of their parents or grandparents wearing the aprons with so many uses. The most important symbol for the apron was that of love. A delicious meal was served afterward in the Family Life Center. The apron gang thinks they will go on the road now.
