Funeral services for Mary Bell Binns, 93, were held Saturday, November 15, 2008, at the Rocky Mount Baptist Church on Smyrna Church Road, Washington, with Rev. Roy Andrews officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery. She died November 9.

Mrs. Binns was a native of Wilkes County and was the daughter of the late Tom and Daisy Henderson. She was affectionately known as "MayBell" and was the widow of Sim Binns. They were married for 54 years before his death in 1988. She was a member of Rocky Mount Baptist Church where she had served on the Mother Board.

Survivors include three children, Lula Mae, Virginia Lee, and Aldrew; grandchildren, Dana and Regina Van Brakle, Barbara and Jeffery Binns, Cynthia Ellis, and Stefanie Hampton, Sharon Stewart, Gregory Binns, Michelle, Carla, Sim III, and Christopher Binns; and numerous great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers included Derrick Tutt, Eddie Littlejohn, Derrick Binns, Christopher Binns, Kenneth Binns, and Ronald Suggs.

McLendon Memorial Funeral Home of Washington was in charge of arrangements.
