Krystal Louise Gurley, Marvin Wayne Henderson Jr. exchange marriage vows on Saturday, October 25
Mrs. Marvin Wayne Henderson Jr. Krystal Louise Gurley and Marvin Wayne Henderson Jr. of Thomson exchanged wedding vows in a lovely double-ring ceremony Saturday, October 25, at one o'clock in the afternoon in Thomson at the Thomson Depot. Rev. Judy Brostrom of North Augusta, S.C., officiated.
The bride is the daughter of Greg and Michele Gurley of Thomson.
The bridegroom is the son of Ed and Penny Arnold of Thomson and the late Marvin Wayne Henderson.
The altar was formed using white candelabra. The center heart-shaped candelabrum and flanking sevenbranched candelabra were entwined with variegated ivy that also trailed down the base. Beautiful red and white satin bows and streamers accented each candelabrum. To the left of the altar was the unity candelabrum entwined with variegated ivy, accented with white sheer ribbon and finished with a nosegay of white carnations in the center.
The candles were lighted by Ben Danner of Tignall, cousin of the bride, and Daniel Arnold of Thomson, brother of the bridegroom.
Music included the selection, "Here and Now" by Luther Vandross.
Daniel Arnold served as best man. Ben Danner was the groomsman and Jonathan Gurley of Thomson, brother of the bride, served as usher.
Brittney Reeves of Dearing was the maid of honor. She wore a long red satin strapless dress adorned with sequins and flowers.
Casey Luke of Thomson served as the bridesmaid. Her gown was also a long red satin design with a strapless bodice that featured a middle opening of lace overlay.
Both carried bouquets of red and white roses, ivy, and red and white ribbon.
Kailynn Michele McGee of Thomson, was the flower girl. Her white satin dress featured a lace overlay. She carried a white basket adorned with streamers and filled with red and white miniature roses.
James Richard Duff Jr. of Thomson, served as ring bearer.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride was radiant in her long white strapless gown designed with a satin overlay with beaded sequin flowers.
White lace adorned her headpiece.
She carried a large bouquet of red roses accented with ivy and red sheer ribbon.
For sentiment the bride also wore a princess ring given to her by her godmother, Lynn Henderson of Seneca, S.C.
For her daughter's wedding Mrs. Gurley chose an ivory jacket embellished with embroidery and beads on the collar and cuffs. An ankle-length black skirt completed her attire. Her corsage was red roses and gypsophila.
The bridegroom's mother, Mrs. Arnold, wore a solid pink dress complemented by a corsage of white roses, gypsophila and greenery.
Hazel Callaway of Rayle, the bride's grandmother, wore a midlength royal blue dress and lacewoven patterned jacket enhanced with a corsage of white roses and gypsophila. Maurice Callaway, the bride's grandfather, had a red rose boutonniere for the lapel of his suit.
Reception
Following the ceremony the bride's parents were hosts at a reception also held at the Thomson Depot.
The bride's table, a square design, was covered in red with a white lace overlay. Centering the table was the stacked three-layered cake, iced in white and decorated in red piping. Red roses topped the cake. Also on the table were the couple's toasting glasses.
The bridegroom's cake was a chocolate confection. Greenery was banked around the edge of the cake for decoration.
Lynn Henderson served cake.
The long buffet was also covered in red with accenting white lace toppers. A massive central arrangement included red roses and carnations, white Fuji chrysanthemums, snapdragons and carnations, gypsophila and trailing springeri fern. From this table guests enjoyed fruit punch and delicious party foods.
Guests' round tables were covered in red floor-length cloths with white lace overlays. Centering each table was a bouquet of red and white carnations and gypsophila.
Lynn Henderson and Connie Devine of Thomson assisted in serving.
The couple left the reception in their wedding attire.
Following a wedding trip to Myrtle Beach, S.C., Mr. and Mrs. Henderson are making their home in Thomson.
Among the guests attending from Washington-Wilkes were Alton and Karen Ray, Annie Crook, Maurice and Hazel Callaway, and Ricky, Caroline and Ben Danner.
Rehearsal Dinner
Fujiama of Augusta was the scene of a rehearsal dinner honoring Krystal Gurley and Wayne Henderson on the eve of their wedding.
Hosts for the occasion were the prospective bridegroom's parents, Ed and Penny Arnold.
